About the Campaign...

A new church building for Christ Our Light

Currently Christ Our Light parish is the process of securing pledges toward a capital campaign for a new church building. The site for the new church is at 11604 293rd Ave. Princeton. It is 107 acres (farmland and prairie) located on the north side of County Road 9, one mile east of Highway 169. The location sits exactly half-way between the cities of Princeton and Zimmerman and lies within the township called Baldwin (which is the fastest growing township in the entire state of MN). The campaign is call One in the Light. It is a major capital campaign with the goal of reaching $5,000,000. All parishioners will be invited to participate in this campaign.

Once a large portion of the pledged money is received and at least one of the current church buildings is sold, the parish will begin construction of the first phase of the new building. This first phase will include buying the land, getting it ready for construction (e.g. sewer, water, roads, etc.), constructing the main body of the Church (which is called a worship area) and constructing a Gathering Space (i.e. a fellowship area for meals and social gatherings). This first phase may also include a temporary space for offices.

The second phase would include classrooms, a large Social Hall and permanent offices. The third and final phase would include a gymnasium, meeting rooms, extended restrooms (including spaces for showers) and expansion to the gathering area.

As we look to the campaign, we ask each household (individuals and families) to consider making a pledge of financial support (contributing weekly, monthly or annually) that occurs between December 1, 2017 and November 30, 2020. For most households, this will be a three year commitment, but we also want to include those families and individuals who join the parish during that period and/or supportive friends and past parishioners.

This financial pledge will be in addition to one’s regular weekly offering. Each household is asked to consider this campaign pledge as being the single most important and largest donation they have made toward any non-profit.

We also ask each household to “stretch themselves” with this endeavor. That is, in order for a new building to truly become a home (and fully owned by all) we use the example of ages past when men and women made sacrifices (financially and physically) to make the dream of a new church happen. Being a part of something “greater than oneself” and making a sacrifice in one’s contribution will help all to feel invested, gain a sense of ownership and proudly entrust a legacy for future generations.

We hope that you will reflect upon this endeavor, prayerfully ponder your contribution and make a commitment of support and presence.
