Love God. Live the Eucharist.

Music Ministry

Christ Our Light offers many opportunities to raise your voice in thanks and praise to God. Instrumentalists and vocalists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate so that our praying community may grow closer to God and one another. We are proud of our music program, and we are eager for you to join us!

Please consider joining Christ Our Light Music Ministries this year…

Digna: (4-part Adult Choir, grade 11-Adult) Features a wide variety of choral music. Mostly SATB but, includes some SAB and 2-part. Music is chosen to enhance the liturgical texts and also to encourage the beautiful choral tradition. Usually rehearses three times per month and sings for Mass 2-3 times per month. Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays, 6:45-8pm, at COL-North (Princeton).

Proclaim: (Children's Choir, grade K-4) Implements a variety of styles and levels of music. Mostly unison singing, however, on occasion there will be 2-part selections. Incorporates percussion instruments and movement. Usually rehearses twice a month and sings for Mass twice a month. Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays, 5-5:30pm, at COL-North (Princeton).

Teen Choir (Contemporary Ensemble): (Grade 5-Adult) Currently consists of “easy listening” praise music with acoustic guitar, bass, flute and percussion, however, all instruments are invited to join. Proclaim rehearsals are held 45 minutes prior to Mass.

Handbell Choir "BELLievers": (Grade 7-Adult) This group requires 6-7 players to ring the 2-octave bell set. Handbell music resembles a piano score. Each player plays two notes and its accidentals. It is hopeful for more students to participate in this wonderful ministry which would allow for additional handbell choirs! Usually rehearses twice a month and plays during Mass once a month.

Cantors (Vocalists): (Grade 2-Adult) Two cantors are scheduled to song-lead each liturgy. This format allows for new adult singers, teens and children to participate. There are also opportunities for solo singing. The cantor schedule includes the hymns and psalms for each weekend, and are available seasonally for each cantor.

Instrumentalists: All are welcome! Depending on the instrument you play, the Teen Choir may be a good fit. Other options include a woodwind ensemble and a brass ensemble. If you are taking lessons then please share your accomplished repertoire with the parish! Plan to arrive 45 minutes before a Mass to work out hymn arrangements and/or special music. Brass and woodwinds rehearse and play as schedules and music allows.

Men’s Chorus: Gather to sing for Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

Women’s Chorus: Gather to sing for the third Sunday of Advent and the Noon Good Friday Mass.

Please note: there are no deadlines for participating in our music ministries. Try it! No call is necessary. Come to a rehearsal. Join in as often as your schedule permits.
