Youth Ministry is much more than just programs. It is about reaching out in relationship to the young people in the community, and giving them opportunities to use their gifts within the community. "Youth ministry is the response of the Christian community to the needs of young people and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with the larger community.” – from the USCCB document, Renewing the Vision

That's right, 20 - 19! We begin this incredible adventure one year before the conference actually happens with things such as fundraisers, informational meetings, bonfires, etc.
Teens in grades 9-12 during the 2019-20 school year and adults are invited to NCYC – an exciting biennial 4-day experience of prayer, community and empowerment for Catholic teens and their adult chaperones. The schedule includes liturgies, general keynote sessions, and concurrent sessions on a variety of topics including forgiveness, Catholic spirituality and prayer, global issues, sexuality, and leadership. There are also opportunities for special activities such as concerts, exhibits, and a thematic park.
The parish is organizing and offering a number of fundraisers to help differ the (approx.) $650 per person cost for those registered for the conference. Contact Matt Kehrer, Coordinator of Youth Ministry & Confirmation at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.

YTM – Youth in Theology and Ministry Summer Institute
As a high school youth in the YTM program, you will be part of a truly dynamic Catholic community with other young people from across the country. During the two-week Summer Institute, you will take college-level theology classes from CSB/SJU professors, do service and leadership activities, experience a variety of Christian prayer forms, and explore your vocational call--all while immersing yourself in the life of the Saint John’s University campus, complete with volleyball, canoeing, hiking, swimming, and rock climbing. You will also take part in many of our YTM traditions, including cabin time, an awesome dance, a volleyball tournament, and the annual No-Talent Show.
We understand that faith can't just be a two-week event. Equipped with the tools you need to sustain your faith, you will develop and implement a service-justice project in your local community during the school year with the guidance of your adult mentor. When you come back to YTM for your second Summer Institute, you will reflect on your leadership experience and its impact on your vocational journey.
Scholarships from Christ Our Light are available to assist with cost. For registration information, visit the YTM website
