Become Catholic (OCIA)
At Christ Our Light Catholic Parish, we joyfully welcome individuals who are interested in becoming Catholic or completing their initiation into the Church. The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is the process through which adults are introduced to the Catholic faith, receive the sacraments, and become fully initiated members of the Church.
Whether you are a baptized Christian interested in joining the Catholic Church, an unbaptized adult, or someone who has already received some sacraments and wants to complete your initiation, OCIA is the path for you.
What is OCIA?
OCIA is the process of formation and learning about the Catholic faith. It is designed for adults who wish to:
- Join the Catholic Church
- Complete their Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Communion, Confirmation)
- Deepen their understanding of Catholic teachings and practices
What to Expect
- Weekly Sessions: OCIA meetings are held weekly throughout the year. Sessions focus on learning the core teachings of the Catholic faith.
- Sacraments: The process includes preparation for receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation, depending on the individual's needs.
- Community: You’ll become part of a community that is growing in faith together.
- Support: You’ll be supported by experienced mentors (sponsors) and the parish community as you journey toward full initiation.
