Sacramental Preparation for Youth

At Christ Our Light, we joyfully prepare youth to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. These milestones in faith are opportunities for growth, grace, and deeper participation in the life of the Church.

First Communion & First Reconciliation

Children typically prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion in 2nd grade as part of our Faith Formation program.


  • First Reconciliation: Preparation focuses on God’s love and mercy, helping children understand the importance of forgiveness and making amends.

  • First Communion: Children learn about the Eucharist as the true presence of Christ, receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus for the first time.

Parent meetings and retreats are part of the preparation process.

Confirmation

Confirmation preparation is a journey of deepening faith, guided by the Holy Spirit. In 11th grade, students will:


Strengthen their understanding of the Catholic faith.


  • Participate in service opportunities and retreats.
  • Choose a Confirmation sponsor to walk with them in faith.
  • Be sealed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation.

A schedule of sessions, retreats, and important dates will be provided upon registration.
